For Aladdin it’s not easy to find a magic lamp but it’s even harder to get a date! It’s a swirling sandstorm of famous Arabian Tales from Ali Baba to Scheherazade, and even Sinbad the Sailor, as Aladdin journeys to find a magic lamp in a Cave of (not-so-great) Wonders. Along his way Aladdin seeks answers and advice from wise Genies, a powerful Sultan, and his own Mother to find a way to meet the Princess. However, even with the lamp in hand, Aladdin will have to learn that it takes more than a wish to make a good impression. Full of memorable characters, from lost Penguins to talking Palm Trees, this is an adventure worthy of 1,001 laughs.

How to Get Involved:

The pre-registration for the Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT) production of Aladdin is now open. There are roles for those students from kindergarten through 5TH grade. Approximately 50-60 Clara Barton Elementary students will be cast to appear in the show with the MCT Tour Actor/Director. Up to 4 students will be cast as Assistant Directors.

Pre-registration allows the Clara Barton PTSA to sign up cast members (within the MCT’s requirements) in advance of the audition. Each child will be signed up for a part in the cast but not for a specific role. Once each age group is filled to capacity (a total of 60 cast members and 4 assistant directors), no additional children may sign up. This eliminates the possibility of children being turned away at the audition.

Registration will cost $100 per student. Guardians should be available to volunteer for the whole week during rehearsals and the performance. Students may also request financial sponsorship by contacting our School Counselor Ms. Madison LeCompte at

Registration Rules and Procedures:

In order to register, children have to commit to be present on the following occasions:

January 9th-13th, auditions/rehearsals, 4:00pm-8:15pm (15 minute snack break)
January 14, First Performance, 3:00pm
January 14, Second Performance, 5:30pm

Students must be available for both performances and come early and leave after as specified by the director.

Reimbursement will only be available if cancellation is requested, and will be determined as followed:

100% if notified by January 6th.
50% if notified by January 9th.
No refunds if notified after January 9th.

Rehearsal Information

Rehearsals will be conducted every day at the Commons at Clara Barton Elementary. Although not all cast members will be needed at every session, those auditioning will have a clear schedule for the entire week, and must be able to attend all rehearsals required for their role and be available for all scheduled performances. A detailed rehearsal schedule will be distributed at the conclusion of the audition (which takes place during the first session on the 9th). Cast members scheduled for the full 4 hours and 15 minutes will be asked to bring a sack lunch, dinner, or snack, to be eaten during the 15-minute break between sessions.
