Scripps National Spelling Bee

Clara Barton PTSA presents its third Scripps-associated Spelling Bee!

Scripps National Spelling Bee, one of the nation’s oldest and most iconic competitions, needs no introduction. At Clara Barton, students have the opportunity to participate in meet-ups, receive coaching, and compete at a live School-level event.

Registration is open to all students in Grades 1 through 5.

  • A list of 450 words will be e-mailed to participants after signup.
  • Students will meet in October, November, and December on Microsoft Teams.  Each meetup will have coaching with tips, games, mock rounds, and written rounds based on the word list.
  • Students will enter a Preliminary Written Round in January. Top students of each grade from that round will move on the Finals in February, were a School Champion, a Runner Up, and Grade-Level Champions will be selected.
  • The School Champion will advance to Regionals to be held in Seattle and hosted by Scripps National Spelling Bee.
  • All participants receive a participation certificate. School winners receive medals and prizes.

1st Meet Up Thursday, October 24, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
2nd Meet Up Thursday, November 19, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
3rd Meet Up Thursday, December 10, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Preliminary Thursday, January 14, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Final TBD Saturday, February 2, 9:00 AM-2:00 PM
