Scripps National Spelling Bee
Clara Barton PTSA presents its third Scripps Spelling Bee!
Scripps National Spelling Bee, one of the nation’s oldest and most iconic competitions, needs no introduction. At Clara Barton, students have the opportunity to participate in meet-ups, receive coaching, and compete at a school-level event.


Registration for 2020 - 20201 school year is now closed.
- Participants were emailed a list of 450 words after registration.
- Students meet online in October, November, and December. Each meetup will have coaching with tips, games, mock rounds, and written rounds based on the word list.
- Students will enter a Preliminary Written Round in January.
- Top students of each grade will move on to the Finals in February when a School Champion, Runner Up, and Grade-Level Champions will be selected.
- The School Champion will advance to Regionals held in Seattle and hosted by Scripps National Spelling Bee.
- All participants receive a participation certificate. School winners receive a medal and prize.
