Steamoji Build to Solve: Steamoji’s 'Build to Solve' program compliments and enriches your child’s school studies by exposing them to new technologies in fabrication, physical computing, engineering and digital arts. With these foundational skills, students are then challenged with problems and encouraged to imagine, create and improve their own solutions. Potential projects include designing for laser cutting, scribble, pantograph, play-do circuits, popsicle stick flashlight.
Grades 1-5

3D Printing: Welcome to our 3D Printing Enrichment Program, where young minds embark on a hands-on journey to discover the exciting world of 3D design and printing! This program is
specially crafted for students in grades K-2, introducing them to the magic of transforming ideas into real-world objects using cutting-edge technology. The program begins with an introduction to 3D printing using 3D printing pens. Students learn basic techniques to create simple designs, gradually building skills and confidence with each project. As they progress, we transition to digital design, bringing ideas to life using TinkerCad, a kid-friendly 3D design program.

Little Coders – Intro to Coding: Tailored for early readers, this course helps students boost their computational thinking while having fun with friends! Beginners learn coding basics like Loops and Conditions. Returning students tackle new challenges, such as debugging. All students build exciting games, stories, and animated characters.
Grades K-2;

Students will learn and practice Karate skills with punching bags, breaking boards, blocking drills, kicking targets and more! Karate-X has been teaching in the Puget Sound for 20 years, with a Martial Arts program specifically designed for preschool and elementary students. Belt rank testing is held at the end of each session, giving students goals to aim for and recognition of their accomplishments.

Cartooning: A unique opportunity for kids of all skill levels to learn cartooning from local cartoonist Jeff Johnson in a positive, encouraging classroom environment. Fun, challenging projects and character development with an emphasis on using one's own style. All materials are provided. Come join the fun!

English Enrichment for Absorbent Minds: Early childhood education and development forms the foundation for future. We can help your child acquire English language and life skills to succeed through our activity-based learning. Salient features are vocabulary enrichment, speaking, listening and critical thinking, reading, and writing.

All About Chess: Wed AM or Thurs PM:
In this chess program students will practice learning with games
against their peers, have a focused lesson and play fun variant chess games. In advanced classes, a simulated tournament will be organized. Any skill level is welcome.

Total Control Soccer is built upon the belief that sports not only promote physical fitness but also instill essential life skills such as discipline, perseverance, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Our program is designed to cater to students of all skill levels, providing a supportive environment where they can learn and grow both on and off the field.

Spanish: Come and join us in a bilingual, multicultural education which opens doors and minds to the world. Lessons are constructed around five elements for elementary: Total Physical Response activities, songs, games, crafts and culture. Groups are organized by language level and age for better interaction. Beginners/Intermediate welcome!

Embark on a journey into the realm of imagination this season with a range of exciting projects: from spooky silhouettes and 3D Picasso faces to clay monsters and Tim Burton inspired portraits. Explore the rich culture of Mexico, master figure drawing, and delve into the fundamentals of one-point perspective. Join us for a fun and educational artistic adventure!

Science Club: Clara Barton’s first ever science club! Join us to learn about Density, Magnesium, evolution, chemical reaction, and much more!

Choir: Join the bobcat choir and sing with your friends every Wednesday morning. We will learn new music and songs, improve our singing technique, and have fun singing as an ensemble. Choir is a free enrichment program sponsored by the PTSA, is open to 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students at Clara Barton and is taught by music teacher Mrs. Torrey.

Super Structures: Does your builder enjoy designing beautiful buildings or functional spaces? If so, this program is the perfect space for your young architect to sharpen their design and building skills! All buildings, from the Empire State Building to the house next door, started as an idea in an architect’s head. Students will learn how to take an idea from their head and turn it into a building in the real world. They will be guided through the building process, from creating a floor plan to disaster-proofing the structure, so that they will be able to create the next best thing in architecture using LEGO® bricks!
Grades K-2

How to Sign Up
You must have an account set up at clarabartonptsa.org in order to register for classes.
After creating an account, click "My Account" then "My Forms" in the top Menu Bar.
Make sure all "Family Information" and "Directory & Publish Preferences" are filled out and have a green check mark
The registration form is called "Winter 2025 Before and After School Classes"
The form will only show up starting at 10 am on December 18th, 2024.
Financial need-based scholarships may be available upon request. Please email school counselor, Megan Martinson at mmartinson@lwsd.org.
All student scholarship requests will be made directly to the school counselor, who will determine which students qualify.
By request, one Before or After School Enrichment Class per scholarship eligible student per enrichment semester may be sponsored as the Before/After School Classes budget allows.
A maximum of 1 spot per 10 registration spots available for enrichment classes may be held back for scholarship students.
You can also save by volunteering as a chaperone for all 10 sessions. This is first come first serve. For details reach out to enrichment@clarabartonptsa.org
Important Notes
You must have an PTSA login (available for free) on our website in order to register.
Registration sells out FAST, so be prepared to commit and sign up as soon as possible for the greatest access to courses.
We strongly recommend you consider testing out the system and becoming familiar with it before registration opens.
You'll find the registration link, when it opens under the "My Account" section of our website, but you will need to complete all the directory information first.
Registration will open on Friday, September 13th at 10 am
All parents/guardians are required to read and abide by the Policies and Procedures.
All parents/guardians must sign and complete the Student Release and Liability Wavier Form and have their child bring this to their first class. If they are in multiple classes we need one for each.
All classes are in person.
Morning classes are from 8:10-9:10. Afternoon classes are from 3:55-4:55. Wednesday afternoon classes are from 2:25-3:25.
Most classes run 10 weeks. Exceptions are noted in the class description.
Each class session requires 1 parent chaperone. Volunteer to chaperone all 10 weeks and you will receive a tuition refund at the end of the 10 week session. This is first come first serve. For details reach out to enrichment@clarabartonptsa.org
In case a class does not have a full time chaperone for all classes, we request every participating family to sign up to chaperone for at least one class.
