Gear up for 2020 Math Challenge Tournament

The Math Challenge Tournament, a national mathematics competition, provides a valuable and fun opportunity for our students to showcase their skills in a variety of math topics. Note: The Tournament is different than the biweekly Math Challenge and requires registration by Monday, November 23 at 8:00 PM.

Who: Grade 2-5 students (Grade 1 students are welcome to participate, but will be competing at a Grade 2 level)
Where: Online. You will receive details in your email after registration.
When: Saturday, December 12, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Duration: 1 hour long test.
Cost: $20 per student. Use school give back CODE: 126 when registering to give back to the Clara Barton PTSA.

Congratulations to all students who participated in Math Challenge 1

Winners of Math Challenge 1 will be contacted next week. It’s not too late to join in the fun. Math Challenge 2 will be available Friday, October 9 at 3:00 PM. Find and submit Math Challenges here. During the 2020-2021 school year there will be 15 sets of challenges released every other week. All students grades K-5 may participate. Lucky winners will be chosen from each grade for every Math Challenge and students completing 12 or more will receive a trophy at the end of the school year.

Spelling Bee is all the buzz. Register, practice and get ready to play

Welcoming new Bobcat Bees until registration closes on Monday, October 12. Spelling Bee is FREE and available to students in grades 1-5. Register here to receive the word list and begin practicing for the first online Meet Up on Thursday, October 22. Meet Ups include coaching with tips, games, mock rounds, and written rounds based on the word list.

FREE Geography Passport Club for students and families

Clara Barton PTSA is excited to bring Passport Club, a geography enrichment program, FREE to students and families. The new virtual program helps students learn the locations and pronunciations of the world’s countries. From there, students build an understanding of what goes on within the almost two hundred independent nations on our globe.

Registration is NOW open to all students in grades 1-5.

Reflections recognition program for student artists

Does your student have an interest in literature, music, photography, art, video or dance? Here’s an opportunity for recognition that starts at Clara Barton and progresses to district, state, and national levels. Reflections is a National PTA arts recognition program that helps students explore their own thoughts, feelings, and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence, and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life. Students create original works of art and write a brief artist statement in response to the 2020-20201 theme, “I Matter Because…”  Watch for student entry packets with updated rules and entry forms in October. Join Math Challenge, new challenges every 2 weeks

Math Challenge Program is designed to give all students, K through Grade 5, opportunities to sharpen their mathematical problem-solving skills. As a participating school, Clara Barton families have an avenue to be involved and enjoy math through fun, engaging math problems. It’s FREE. Visit every other week for new challenges starting late September and continue through May.
